Adante Thorton Age 13- Level 3 Sex Offender- Hoodsport, WA
13-year-old sex offender moves into Hoodsport 05:50 PM PDT on Monday, August 27, 2007 By PAUL AKER / KING 5 News Convicted Level 3 sex offender Adante Thornton is not required to stay away from children HOODSPORT, Wash. – A 13-year-old who's already been convicted of raping two young boys has just moved into the Hoodsport area. Adante Joseph Manuel Thornton is awaiting trial for raping a third boy. He is a Level 3 sex offender, meaning he is considered likely to re-offend, and he is not in jail. "We don't often encounter Level 3, 13-year-old males in the system," said Dean Byrd, Mason County Sheriff's office. "I think this is the first one we've had. This is a little bit unusual." Thornton was convicted in July of raping a 5-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy in Kitsap County. He's now awaiting a September trial for allegedly raping a 6-year-old boy. He has reportedly admitted to a total of five victims. Thornton and his family moved from a Naval base in Bremerton. Mason County Sheriff's deputies say Thornton's family moved in with friends who also have young children. The court-ordered release conditions don't prevent that; they just say Thornton has to stay within eyesight of his guardians. "He needs to be in counseling and some kind of treatment at the very least," said one Hoodsport resident. "I've got a 15-year-old son and I can tell you being in his parents' sights is not going to make any difference at all." For his other two convictions, Thornton received a total of 22 days in detention and 80 hours of community service. Thornton has not undergone any counseling yet, but is expected to soon. Law enforcement says Thornton's father has relocated to the East Coast, where the boy will move after the trial. http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW_082707WAB_sex_offender_hoodsport_thornton_TP.76dd666b.html#
