Authorities say the remains of a body found in central New York 30 years ago are those of a 17-year-old girl who went missing in 1972.
During a news conference this morning in Syracuse, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said all signs point to a homicide in the death of Melody Rowe, but he wouldn't reveal details of her death.
Rowe went missing from Syracuse in 1972. In late March 1977, remains were found near the Onondaga Nation just south of Syracuse.
The remains were deemed a "Jane Doe" until DNA obtained from a relative recently helped give authorities a lead to Rowe's missing person case
