Woman's Body Found By Road; Police Investigating

SALINAS, Calif. -- The Monterey County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a female whose body was found in an unincorporated part of the county east of Salinas Thusday morning as an apparent homicide.
Deputies went to the area of 96 Zabala Road around 4:15 a.m. after a motorist reported seeing a body alongside the roadway, according to the sheriff's office.
The victim had sustained serious blunt trauma to her head and face, the sheriff's office reported.
She was described as being in her mid-teens to mid-20s, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 115 pounds.
