Blogging the Fifth Nail : Revelations, Duncan Blogs Again
Duncan may be issuing new blogs from jail By NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS Associated Press SPOKANE, Wash. -- Registered sex offender Joseph Edward Duncan III is apparently blogging again, this time from a jail cell. Messages that Duncan allegedly wrote in longhand and mailed to another person are being posted on the Internet. The messages are mostly religious in nature, and do not address the charges that Duncan killed three people outside Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, last year so he could kidnap two small children for sex. The blogs were revealed this week on a web site called "The Cellar" that is exhaustively dedicated to Duncan. Jules Hammer, an East Coast blogger who operates The Cellar, refused to identify who is helping Duncan post the messages, saying that person wanted to remain anonymous. She said that person had been helping Duncan since November in hopes that Duncan's writing would provide incriminating evidence. An FBI agent, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said the agency cannot confirm conclusively that the writings are Duncan's. But agents have been monitoring the new blog and assuming it was Duncan's work. Officials for the Kootenai County Jail in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where Duncan is being held, could not confirm the blog contained letters written from jail by Duncan. "We don't know," sheriff's Capt. Ben Wolfinger said Tuesday, even though all mail sent by inmates is read by jail staff. "All we scan for are contraband requests or escape plans or plans to commit crimes," Wolfinger said. "The rest of it just goes on through." Duncan is provided two stamped envelopes a week for free to send letters, Wolfinger said. Duncan's public defender, John Adams, declined to comment. Hannah McFarland, a handwriting expert from Seattle, analyzed copies of the actual letters Duncan allegedly wrote, provided to her by KXLY-TV of Spokane. She compared those letters to documents known to have been written by Duncan, and said they appeared to be the work of the same person. "It's a qualified opinion because I didn't have original documents," said McFarland, who worked with Internet files of the documents and a fax, "which distorts writing a little." But she said nothing in the new letters was different from the known Duncan documents. Duncan, 42, of Fargo, N.D., has pleaded innocent to three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree kidnapping in the slayings of three people in a northern Idaho home in May 2005. His trial is set for April 4. Prosecutors allege Duncan killed Brenda Kay Groene, 40; her son, Slade Vincent Groene, 13; and her boyfriend, Mark Edward McKenzie, 37, in order to abduct and sexually assault Dylan Groene, 9, and Shasta Groene, who was 8 at the time. Shasta was rescued seven weeks later, but Dylan's remains were found at a secluded campsite in northwestern Montana. Duncan has not been charged with the children's abduction, or with Dylan's slaying. Federal authorities said they will wait until the Idaho charges are resolved before filing those charges. Duncan is a computer expert who wrote extensive, often unsettling, blogs before his arrest, chronicling his life as a registered sex offender. In his final entry before his arrest, he wrote "My intent is to harm society as much as I can, then die." His blogs were not updated for months after his July arrest at a Coeur d'Alene Denny's, because he does not have computer access from the jail. The most recent posting on the blog -- called "Blogging the Fifth Nail: Revelations" -- is dated Monday, Jan. 23, and is headlined "We Need Tougher Sex Crimes (Uh...laws)" In it, the writer compared the nation's focus on cracking down on sex crimes with the failed Prohibition effort of the 1920s, which he said expanded organized crime. "So now we need to get "tough on sex crimes?" the blogger wrote. "That's synonymous to saying, "We need more sex crime!" The blog said that sex offenders who find themselves under greater public scrutiny because of new laws will only be spurred to commit more crimes to prove they have control of their own lives. "A very good friend of mine who happens to be a 'serial killer' told me that he committed more sex crimes during the two years he was on parole (including killing three children) than he did in the entire five years he was not on parole," the blogger wrote. In addition to the Idaho charges, Duncan has been identified by authorities as the prime suspect in the killing of a boy in California. The blogger wrote that his serial killer friend did not commit more crimes until police began checking quarterly at his home. "So now more people are dead and hurting because some police chief decided to take it upon himself to get tough on sex crime," the blogger wrote. Before his arrest, Duncan had vehemently complained on his blog about all the attention he was receiving from Fargo police. Many of the new entries are philosophic ruminations on love, religion and philosophy, and he gives God the name of "William." ------ The blog entries are at: http://5nrevelations.blogspot.com/ The Cellar is: http://jetd63.blogspot.com/ Copyright © 2006 Associated Press. Monday, January 23, 2006 We Need Tougher Sex Crimes (Uh,…laws) When will America learn? It seems nobody remembers the result of “getting tough on alcoholics” (the prohibition). It was literally the birth of organized crime in America. Or what about “getting tough on drugs” (the so called “War on drugs”)? We now have over five times more drugs in this country than before! So now we need to get “tough on sex crimes?” That’s synonymous to saying, “We need more sex crime!” It’s really no mystery why. If you take control away from a person who has an obvious need for control (a “sex offender”—just for example) then what do you think they’ll do? Give up? Not likely. They are going to find a way to take control back, at any cost. And guess what? Do you really think they’ll look for a new way to get control, or resort to the one way they know? Hmm, maybe if common sense doesn’t snap us out of our delusion history will. Since America started getting tough on Sex crime in the mid 80’s we now have more than double the sex crimes per capita than the 70’s. (Get the almanacs out people- it’s all right there!) And a very good friend of mine who happens to be a “serial killer” told me that he committed more sex crimes during the two years he was on parole (including killing three children) than he did in the entire five years he was not on parole. In fact—he tells me that while he was not on parole he committed NO crimes until the police started doing illegal quarterly registration checks at his home (coming to his house to make sure he was complying with the law). He said that was when he started looking for control again—to prove (consciously and subconsciously to himself) that “they” couldn’t control him. So now more people are dead and hurting because some police chief decided to take it upon himself to “get tough on sex crime.” I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again, “the only cure for crime is Love. Everything else is just more crime!” posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 5:06 PM Truth, Love and Life 210 If there is any way possible for you to hate or ever stop loving something that you think you love, then you do not truly love that thing. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 8:53 AM Truth, Love and Life 101 Most people are so far out of touch with reality that they don’t ever realize the following very simple and self evident truths: 1. If you hate something it means you are afraid because you don’t understand it. 2. If you love something it means that you trust it because you do understand it (or think you do). 3. If you hate something you once loved, then you never truly loved it. 4. The best way to discover True love is to love something you once hated. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 8:53 AM William is a Time Traveler This revelation actually came to me when I realized that the paradox of William’s omniscient nature is identical to the paradox of time travel. The life in you is the exact same life in me (which is also Christ) “In him was life, and that life was the light of man.” (John 1:4) That life is the time traveler. This concept is admittedly for even me to grasp and almost impossible to articulate. But men have been trying for thousands of years. It is the Buddhist concept of reincarnation, and the Christian concept of Christ being in all of us (the first law of William). The reality of William’s omniscience can be expressed in countless and seemingly disparate ways, but they all express the same thing; That William expresses himself infinitely though time. The sequence of events that you are presently experiencing is the result of William’s ability to move through time (and who knows how many other dimensions) as easily (more easily) as we move through space. Before enlightenment, that is before we understand the purpose of our current iteration in time, we can not remember who we truly are only because if we did remember while there was still deception in our heart we would contradict one of the absolutes of William: “…it is impossible for God to lie.” (Hebrews 6:18 in part NIV) Since the word of God directly shapes reality, a lie from God would destroy the fabric of the universe! So it is impossible for us to remember who we are until all deceit is removed from our heart. But once we are made pure then enlightenment comes and knowledge of our true selves and purpose with it. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 8:52 AM The Laws of William These are the laws of love, truth, and life. They are universal laws that account for every aspect of our reality. They are the cornerstone, keystone and capstone of creation; The Son, Spirit and Father. They are also “the communications of Allah,” and the “Djinn,” and “Allah proper” according to Islamic teachings. The laws themselves may also sound very “Buddhist” and that is, of course, because they are, and much more. They are intended mostly to be “scientific” in that they define our relationship to God in much the same way the law of gravity defines our relationship to the earth. And like the law of gravity, they apply to everyone, whether you think the world is flat (up and down are also absolute) or not. So, if you think that God is weak (good and evil are absolute) then maybe you could learn something by carefully considering these laws. The Law of Love The first law of William is the law of love. It says, there is only one living being (God) in the universe and all life (consciousness) comes from it, belongs to it, and returns to I t. In other words, we are the subconscious “thoughts” of William. What we think, he thinks; what we experience, he experiences. So, by extension, what you experience, I experience, and what you think, I think. We are ONE through our higher consciousness (“collective subconscious” according to Jung – pronounced “Yoong”—a famous student of Freud), also referred to as “the mind of Christ” (I Corinthians 2:16) or “the communications of Allah” (in the Holy Koran). Jesus teaches us about this law throughout the gospels and especially at Mark 12:28-34 (“the Greatest Commandment”) Also, St. Paul tells us, “The entire law is summed up in a single command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” (Galations 5:14 NIV) because “your neighbor” is you! The Law of Truth The second law of William is the law of truth. It says, all understanding comes from within (William). By implication this means that understanding that does not come from inside of you is part of the illusion, it is false understanding. By “within” I do not mean your thoughts or even feelings, these are external to who you truly are as well. To understand what “within” means look to the first law of William, the law of love. Inside of you, behind your thoughts, behind everything you experience is your consciousness. The part of you that says (not with words though) “I am.” It is the one and only thing you can know without doubt; “I am.” All other “knowledge” is dependent on your experiences. But your experiences come from outside of you and you can only assume they are real. But, that is an incorrect assumption, as you will learn when you turn off the “projector” (your mind) and discover who you really are. Who you really are is the only dependable source of understanding, ad the second law states. The Law of Life The third law of William is the law of life. It says, it is not possible to deceive William. This is the simplest and yet most dangerous (to you) of the three laws. I have read advanced Buddhist books that warn of the dangers of trying to understand this before you are ready. St. Paul also warns of the dangers of this knowledge. It is “the Holy Grail” and you should wait until William hands it to you before drinking from it since if you drink before understanding the first and second laws it will be poison to you. Be warned! posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 8:50 AM

Monday, January 02, 2006 Do I feel Remorse? Yes, I feel remorse for every time I gassed up my car instead of protesting the war in Iraq. I feel remorse for every time I set money to the cable company but not to help feed the millions of starving children and the world. I feel remorse for every time I saw a homeless person and did not offer them a place to stay. I feel remorse for every time I passed a nursing home and did not stop to visit. I feel remorse for every time I licked a stamp to pay a bill but did not send a letter to someone in prison. I feel remorse for every time I rode my bike and didn’t think about people who couldn’t walk. I feel remorse for all the times I went to work but did nothing to help a “third world country.” As a matter of fact, I feel remorse for all the times I forgot about God and thought only about myself! So, yes, I do feel remorse. Don’t you? posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 3:39 PM The Ultimate Carnival Ride When I was ten years old my family moved to the Puget Sound area. One of the first things we did as a family of course was visit the Seattle Center Fairgrounds (where the space needle is). The day we were there it was a little rainy so there were no crowds at the carnival rides. My younger brother and I decided to try the most fearsome looking ride in the park, a popular fast moving carnival ride called “The Zipper” since there were no lines we were the only ones to get into one of the caged cars and as soon as we were strapped in the ride began full motion! We both started screaming for our lives immediately as the car was simultaneously raised 40ft. into the air and flipped upside down it seemed the world was going in every direction at once with all points of reference completely lost. The ground became the sky and all hope of us understand which way was up was lost in the confusion. This was not at all what I expected, and apparently neither my brother. We both began screaming, “Stop the ride! Help! Stop the ride!” When we saw the operator (who was paying us no attention probably assuming, I’m sure, that we were enjoying ourselves.) spin past as we were about to be tossed into the air again are pleads became more desperate, “Help! Please! Stop! Stop!” After what I’m sure it was the full duration of the ride, it finally came to a halt and the cage opened, and we both ran for the security of solid ground. Up to that point that was the most terrifying experience I had ever had. But after my feet were back on the ground and I realized I was shaken but not harmed, and the world was exactly the way I had left it - I wanted to “go again!” and for years “The Zipper” was one of my favorite carnival rides. Life is just like that. It seems very scary and confusing as we are “tossed into the air.” spun around and lose all references, while it is happening, but after the ride is over we look around and realize that we wear shaken but unharmed and the world (our higher reality) is just the way we left it. When we realize all this we will no doubt want to “go again!” posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 2:57 PM

Sunday, January 01, 2006 What William Wants William only wants us to learn obedience, not “right from wrong.” If you think you know right from wrong then you are self-righteous (just like “Bob”). “No one is good – except God alone.” (Mark 10:18 NIV) “But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the law and prophets testify.” (Romans 3:21) “Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.” (Romans 10:3) “The law” teaches right from wrong, but clearly this is not what William requires from us. If we obey him then we will obey the law, but we can NOT obey him by obeying the law! There is a crucial difference. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 8:39 PM The Almighty William God has many names, but the best one is “William!” because the creation (our world) is a direct product of his Will, and he himself is the “I am” so “Will-I-am” or just “William” is perfect. It also is a roman name so it implies that “God is one of us,” which, of course, he most certainly is. I like to think of “William” as “God the Father” and “Will” as “God the Son.” Again, this works great because “the Son” is “the word” which is “the will of God” through which all things were made. (John 1:1-3) To make this naming conversion complete we need a name for “God the man” (or” God in man”) so, to that end I elect “Robert” to refer to the “shadow world” so “Bob” is man in the flesh (“a shadow”) and that makes “Bill” the obvious choice for “God the man” (P.S. “Robert” also means “darkness” or “the liar” otherwise loosely corresponding to “Satan” but without all the supernatural connotations that cause so much confusion). posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 8:38 PM

Saturday, December 31, 2005 Monkey See, Monkey Do The man looked down at the monkey and asked, “what is wrong my friend, you look so sad?” The monkey said, “My hand is stuck in this hole, and I am hungry. If I don’t get free I will starve.” The man looked and saw the monkey’s hand was inside a hole and the monkey seem to be making a fist inside the hole. The man understood, so he asked the monkey, “Are you holding on to something inside the hole?” The monkey said, “Yes, I have a piece of apple and I am hungry.” The man saw an apple tree nearby, so he told the monkey, “If you let go of the piece of apple you can go to the apple tree any and eat all you want.” The monkey looked confused and said, “But can’t you see? My hand is stuck in this hole!” The man tried to explain, “But it is only stuck because you are holding the apple peace, if you let it go you will be free!” The monkey screeched in frustration, “but I am hungry and the apple is good to eat!” Just then God appeared. God looked down at the man and asked, “What is wrong my friend, you look sad?” The man said, “My friend the monkey has his hand stuck and he is hungry.” God looked and saw the monkey and understood. So, God asked the man, “Do you think you can make the monkey understand why his hand is stuck?” The man said, “Yes, he must understand or he will starve.” God saw that there was a serpent in the apple tree nearby waiting to eat a monkey. So God told the man, “There is a serpent in the apple tree waiting to eat the monkey. If you go away now the monkey will fall asleep and his hand will come free. After a while he will wake up and by then the serpent will have left the apple tree. The monkey will forget about the slice of apple in the hole and go eat safely at the tree.” The man looked confused and said, “But the monkey needs my help. I can not leave him alone.” God tried to explain, “But if you stay here he will not be able to sleep and he may starve.” The man screamed at God, “Don’t you understand? It would be wrong for me to abandon the monkey. He needs my help!” So, God left the monkey’s and told the hungry tiger which way to go. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 12:48 PM

Monday, December 05, 2005 Eternity is not a linear experience God experiences everything we experience exactly as we experienced it. In fact, we are the experiences of God, but those experiences will end while God will live forever (actually He already has lived forever since the eternity is not a linear experience). We (our experiences) move through God while He does not change. So, our experience (God’s experiences) do not change him, thus “the dream” is defined as our changing experiences since we already know that anything that changes cannot be real. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 11:18 PM The Cornerstone of Creation Most Christians make the critical error of trying to make the bible into the “cornerstone” of their belief and they put the one true cornerstone (Christ) inside their temple as the centerpiece. They turn Christ into an object of worship instead of the foundation of all Truth that he is. They claim the answers to life’s questions are in the bible. But, they are not. The answers to life’s questions are inside of us - in Christ. Christ is the cornerstone because he is the only one truth that is self sustaining. If you remove everything from your consciousness only consciousness remains. Christ is your consciousness, which is your life! What you are conscious of is not who you are! You are not your thoughts, memories, feelings - none of these, because all of these will pass. But your consciousness comes from god; it is God, and the cornerstone of everything you can know. From this truth understanding will grow on its own if you let it and don’t try to understand on your own (with your thoughts, feelings, etc…) “See I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts him will never be put to shame.” (1 Peter 2:6) posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 10:40 AM

Sunday, December 04, 2005 Recognizing God’s Face All consciousness is the gift of God. It is life, love, and truth. Just as we have conscious sub-conscious processes, so are we, in a very real sense, the sub-conscious processes of God. In this way we are all a very real part of the mind of God. The people you see and hear around you are your “brother and sister thoughts” but all part of the same super conscious mind. We know this naturally but learn to deny it vehemently. To know God is to unlearn this denial – to reconnect to the truth – that there is only One God, one life, one will and we all belong to the one true religion (which is not Christianity, but is explained in the Bible, and many other great books of truth. But the books are mere reflections of God’s Truth, not the truth itself.) “Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face” – 1 Corinthians 13:12 posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 5:57 PM God’s will is Exposed not Imposed God never imposes His will on us; He doesn’t need to since nothing can resist His will. God’s will is perfect and infinite, it can not be apposed. But when we do notrecognize this truth (that god is all powerful) we deceive ourselves into thinking we can appose God, and it is the deception that brings pain into our lives, not God’s truth. But the deception plays a trick on us; it convinces us that the truth hurts and so we cringe from the truth (God) instead of trusting it to cleanse our consciousness. God’s truth is pure light (“in him there is no darkness at all” 1 John 1:5 NIV) it is pure life and pure love, and it is pure consciousness. Nothing can resist the truth, which is the word of God, and the will of God. So, the will of God is always exposed, or revealed but never imposed. Only by realizing this can we be free from pain and suffering, free from sin and free from the illusion of separation from God. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 5:28 PM

Sunday, November 13, 2005 The Doctor's Hand By resisting the will of an evil person you’re resisting the will of god. (Matthew 5:39) When I was 15 I was in a serious car accident. In the hospital emergency room the doctor began an emergency procedure called cauterizing on my face while I was still in shock not responding to pain he was literally burning the wounds closed with electric arcs (like welding) in order to reduce the bleeding as quickly as possible I came out of the shock just as he was making the first burn the pain was so intense that I reflectively grabbed the doctors hand and pushed it away from my face the doctor retaliated by pulling his hand away and yelling don’t you ever grab the doctors hand while use working on new ID and realize that I could have made the injuries to a lot worse by grabbing his hand the way that I did while he wascauterizing the wound. When we resist an evil person, we are in effect "grabbing Gods hand" while He is rying to help us. Doing so is an indication of our lack of faith in God to protect us and do what is good for us. Just like a doctor, sometimes it is necessary for God to hurt us so we can heal correctly. By resisting an evil person we are interfering with Gods work and more serious injury is the result. All suffering is Gods way of yelling at us" to stop interfering with His work (Hebrews 12:7). It takes a lot of faith to realize this, but we can not start healing until we do. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 9:18 PM This blog is not for anyone specific, it is for "truth seekers". Many will scoff - but those who know Truth will recognize what I say and read it to understand - not to judge. posted by Fifth Nail Revelations | 9:14 PM

New Duncan letter mentions victim The Associated Press SPOKANE — Registered sex offender Joseph Edward Duncan III said in a recent letter that God ordered him to return abduction victim Shasta Groene last summer. Duncan is being held without bail in the Kootenai County Jail in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he faces a murder trial in the deaths of three people in a crime authorities contend was intended to allow him to kidnap Shasta, now 9, and her brother Dylan, 9, for sex. If convicted, Duncan could face the death penalty. Shasta was rescued last summer after seven weeks; Dylan’s body was later found in Montana. “God himself appeared between me and Shasta and commanded me to take her home immediately. So I did,” Duncan wrote. “I do not know why he did not appear to me sooner, you’ll have to take up that question with God.” Kootenai County Jail records show that Duncan received a letter from Jean Reed of Vancouver, Wash., on Jan. 25, which condemned him for his life as a child molester. Reed is a Vancouver organizer for Washington’s Initiative 921, which seeks to lock up violent sex offenders for life after conviction on a first offense. Duncan sent a letter back to her Jan. 31, jail records showed. “We are floored by it,” said Tracy Oetting of Skykomish, initiative sponsor. She rejected the notion that God told Duncan to return Shasta, noting he was captured after employees at a Coeur d’Alene restaurant delayed him and called police. The group released the letter as a way to publicize the initiative, Oetting said. Duncan’s public defender, John Adams, was not in his office late Monday and is not listed in the telephone book. Shasta and Dylan disappeared from the home near Coeur d’Alene where their mother, older brother and their mother’s boyfriend were killed in May. In July, Duncan was arrested at a Denny’s restaurant as he ate with Shasta. Dylan’s body was found a few days later at a remote primitive campsite in Montana where the children had apparently been held. Duncan has offered no explanation for why he stopped to eat in a town where pictures of Shasta and Dylan had been plastered everywhere since their abduction. In the letter, Duncan described himself as a remorseful man. “If dying, even going to Hell, could erase what has happened I would volunteer in a moment,” Duncan wrote. “But it can’t, even though dying at this point in my life would be easier than facing what I have done.” He argued against life or death sentences for sex offenders. “If you continue to hate me, even kill me, then you send a message to other sex offenders in this country,” Duncan wrote. “You need to honestly ask yourself how that message will affect them the next time they see a vulnerable person.” “Since I surrendered to the authorities of this world God has been speaking with me everyday,” Duncan wrote. “(No, I’m not crazy and I’m not “hearing voices” or anything like that.) I know it is God talking to me though, because not even the devil himself could have made me turn myself over to my most feared and hated enemy (‘the system’).” He signed the letter “Duncan.” Last week, Duncan’s lawyer argued that his client’s trial should be pushed back from April to November, to await a U.S. Supreme Court decision on the insanity defense. Adams contends Idaho’s ban on insanity as a defense is unconstitutional, and the Supreme Court is set to rule on a similar law in Nevada later this year. Duncan, 42, a registered sex offender from Fargo, N.D., is scheduled to stand trial April 4 on charges he kidnapped and killed Brenda Kay Groene, 40, her son, Slade Groene, 13, and live-in boyfriend Mark Edward McKenzie, 37. All three were found bound and beaten to death at their home. Duncan is expected to face federal charges of kidnapping the two children and killing Dylan Groene after the Idaho state case is finished. Duncan has sent more than 60 letters to family and friends and received more than 100 pieces of mail since he was jailed in July. Some of Duncan’s writings from jail have appeared on an Internet Weblog. The Tacoma, Wash., native spent much of his adult life in prison for raping a boy there. He had lived in Fargo, N.D., since his release from prison in 2000. He faces child-molestation charges in Minnesota. http://www.theolympian.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060207/NEWS06/60207042
