Desperately seeking answers Sunday, November 19, 2006 Brandy Gibson was found murdered in the woods off State Road 70. Brandy Gibson was a daughter, sister and mother of four. It's been a year since her decomposed body was found in woods off State Road 70 in Manatee County. "My heart was shattered when we found out the girl that day was our daughter," her father, who wishes to remain anonymous, said. "It shattered my heart. It fell to pieces on the floor." As they try to pick up the pieces, the Gibson family travels in a mini van around town with her date of birth and when she died seeking answers. But so far, their drives have led them down a road to nowhere. "We want to know when she died, how she died, things a mother should know about her child," her mother said. Detectives said the case is at a standstill with no current leads. Gibson, 27, had a criminal record and her family thinks the case isn't getting enough attention because of that. The family said Gibson isn't the first person found in the woods off State Road 70. They said a woman from Venice was also found there and that case is unsolved as well. There is a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
