Disturbing Casey Journal Entry Among Evidence Released Wednesday, February 18, 2009 – updated: 1:24 pm EST February 18, 2009 ORLANDO, Fla. -- Casey Anthony hyperventilated when she was told Caylee's remains had been found. That's just one of the many blockbuster details released Wednesday in the case against Casey. Pictures of the crime scene, photos of evidence taken from inside the Anthony family home and hundreds of hundreds of pages of documents were released Wednesday. According to the documents, investigators found a bag inside the family home that matches the bag that contained Caylee Anthony's remains. Among the documents and images, there's also some cryptic words from Casey Anthony's dairy. Investigators found evidence from the Anthony home that matched evidence found with Caylee's remains ,including a laundry bag. One of the most disturbing things that was released Wednesday was a page from Casey's diary dated June 21 ,five days after Caylee disappeared, where she wrote, "This is the happiest I have been in a very long time. I hope that my happiness will continue to grow." Casey also wrote that she had "no regrets, just a bit worried. I just want for everything to work out okay. I completely trust my own judgment and knew that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means. I just want to know what the future will hold for me. I guess I will soon see." Investigators found a canvas "Whitney" laundry bag in the Anthonys' home. That is exactly the same as the laundry bag Caylee's remains were found with. They also found the backing for a heart-shaped sticker in the Anthony home with the sticker removed. It could be the sticker they found at the scene that they say appeared to have been intentionally stuck to the duct tape around Caylee's mouth. Investigators are comparing the duct tape found with Caylee to duct tape on the Anthonys' gas cans, the ones that Casey had stolen in late June after Caylee disappeared. The new documents show that Cindy Anthony told investigators in December after Caylee's remains were found that she had sent someone to walk "that area" a month earlier and there was nothing in the area then. That could mean she's the one who told her private investigator, Dominic Casey, to go to the scene and look around in November, when he was told to look near concrete stones. Caylee's remains were found by concrete stones. Documents also show investigators said meter reader Roy Kronk believes he found the same bag in August that he found in December where the remains were discovered, but can't be completely sure because it looked different in December, drier. When investigators collected the evidence from the house after Caylee's remains were found, they said in the documents that Cindy Anthony told them a Winnie the Pooh blanket was missing from Caylee's bed; Caylee's remains were found with a Winnie the Pooh blanket. Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, has been charged with her daughter's murder. She claims that Caylee was kidnapped by a baby sitter and has pleaded not guilty. Caylee was 2 when she disappeared last June. A month passed before authorities were notified of her disappearance. NEW SPOKESPERSON FOR JOSE BAEZ TEAM Casey Anthony's defense team has a new spokeswoman and, despite claims to the contrary, Marti MacKenzie says she is the only spokeswoman for the Jose Baez law firm. Eyewitness News reported that Press Corps Media spokesperson Todd Black was really Gil Cabot, who went to prison for trying to extort money from a Los Angeles news anchor. Thursday, Eyewitness News saw Press Corps was still sending news releases. "If you get a call tomorrow from somebody that says, you know I'm Mary Smith and now I'm involved with Baez's law firm and I'll be sending you a press release in 10 minutes, I would ignore it," Marti MacKenzie said. MacKenzie is on Baez's payroll as an expert. She has more than 20 years experience working with attorneys in high-profile cases. START OF CASEY TRIAL COULD BE YEAR AWAY The start of Casey Anthony's murder trial could be as long as a year away. There are many things, legally and in the investigation, that still need to be completed. Eyewitness News believes evidence discovered where Caylee's remains were found and at her house are still being tested. According to defense expert Dr. Henry Lee's writings, Casey's defense team could be going so far as to analyze the root growth of plants to determine how long Caylee's body was there. Investigators spent more than a week at the scene where Caylee Anthony's remains were found, sifting through the dirt by hand. One of the things they found was a heart-shaped sticker that investigators said matched up to adhesive found on the duct tape over her mouth. Investigators had bug and plant experts at the scene, too, to help determine how long Caylee was there and where else her body had been. Boxes of evidence were removed from her house less than a mile away using two different search warrants based on what was found at the scene. Once the testing of the evidence is done, the defense will go into research and attack mode. "The integrity of it, the testing of it, the conclusions that were drawn by the testing, the credentials of the prosecution experts as opposed to the defense experts," explained WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer. Sheaffer told Eyewitness News the defense will probably hold hearings to convince the judge to throw out a lot of the most damning evidence. There are about 145 witnesses listed so far, including Casey's family members. Only five of them, including Casey's ex-boyfriend who she spent the night with the day Caylee disappeared, have been only partially deposed by the defense. "For every hour that you spend in trial you spend potentially ten hours in preparation," Sheaffer said. Someone recently left a SpongeBob SquarePants balloon at the remains scene, possibly after George Anthony's touching story about how she loved to imitate his sidekick Patrick with her raspy voice. When WFTV's news crew arrived at the remains scene Wednesday afternoon, there were 11 people at the memorial paying their respects to Caylee. http://www.wftv.com/news/18739816/detail.html

Defense: Caylee's Mother's Diary Was Written in 2003 By Steve Helling Originally posted Thursday February 19, 2009 05:05 PM EST Caylee Anthony One day after Casey Anthony's diary entries were released by the State Attorney's office, her defense team is calling the evidence into question. The entry was notable because it was dated June 21, just five days after Florida toddler Caylee Anthony went missing. "I have no regrets, just a bit worried," Casey Anthony wrote. "I completely trust my own judgment. I know that I made the right decision. I just hope that the end justifies the means. This is the happiest that I have been in a very long time." But Anthony's defense counters that the entry was not written in 2008, but in 2003 instead, when Casey was just 16 years old. The opposite page of the diary has "03" written the upper left hand corner. "It's in the same color ink and the same handwriting," defense spokeswoman Marti Mackenzie tells PEOPLE. "This was written in 2003, not 2008." On the Today show Thursday, lead attorney Jose Baez said, "This is before Caylee was even born." Sources within the police department tell PEOPLE that they have not yet authenticated when the diaries were written. "The investigation is continuing and there are ways to tell when this was written," says a police source. "At this point, we can't definitively say when this entry was written." When asked whether the entry could have been from 2003, the source responded, "That's entirely possible. No one should jump to any conclusions yet." Casey Anthony, 22, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, 2, and has pleaded not guilty. She is being held without bond at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, awaiting a trial expected to begin later this year. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20260231,00.html?xid=rss-topheadlines

updated 11:20 a.m. EST, Wed March 4, 2009 Casey Anthony to face trial in October in Caylee's death ORLANDO, Florida (CNN) -- An October trial date has been set for Casey Anthony, accused in the killing of her 2-year-old daughter, who was found stuffed in a plastic bag in a wooded area. The trial is scheduled to start October 12, a Florida judge decided during a court hearing Monday. Anthony, 22, faces seven counts, including first-degree murder, in the death of her toddler daughter, Caylee. The child was last seen in June. Casey Anthony reportedly waited about a month before telling her family the child was gone. Cindy Anthony -- Caylee's grandmother -- called the Orange County sheriff July 15 after her daughter wouldn't or couldn't tell her where Caylee was. Casey's brother, Lee Anthony, also pleaded with his sister to tell him where Caylee was. According to police documents, she replied that she hadn't seen Caylee in "31 days." Pictures of Casey Anthony partying have added a sensational element to the case. Caylee's remains were found in December in a wooded area about a half-mile from Anthony's Florida home. Authorities said the child's remains were found in a laundry bag wrapped in a plastic trash bag, and her skull was wrapped in duct tape, according to police documents. Police said they believe that the toddler was slain within days of the time she was last seen in June and that her body was in the trunk of her mother's car for "a period of time," according to documents released in February. When she was notified at the Orange County Jail in December that the body had been discovered, Casey Anthony "allegedly had begun to hyperventilate and asked to be given some medication," a police report said http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/03/03/florida.anthony.trial/index.html?section=cnn_latest

From Orlando Sentinel Casey Anthony weeps, chuckles in evidence photos, videos Prosecutors released hours of taped interviews, photos and other documents as part of its case against the 23-year-old mother who is accused of killing her daughter, Caylee. By Amy L. Edwards and Sarah Lundy | Sentinel Staff Writers April 7, 2009 After she was charged with murder in October, Casey Anthony chuckled with detectives before heading to jail. But when she heard that a child's remains had been uncovered just blocks from her home, Casey Anthony collapsed in a jail chair, her hands became sweaty, red blotches appeared on her neck and she appeared to hyperventilate. Casey Anthony's contrasting reactions were disclosed Monday when prosecutors released hours of taped interviews, photos and other documents as part of its case against the 23-year-old mother who is accused of killing her daughter. When the remains — later determined to be Casey Anthony's 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie — were uncovered Dec. 11, Anthony watched a local news report in the jail clinic. She requested a sedative and asked an Orange County Corrections employee to sit with her because "she didn't want to be alone," Lt. Tammy Unser told detectives. Casey Anthony continued to breathe rapidly, spoke fast, but didn't cry. She didn't talk about her case, either. Instead, Casey Anthony talked about football. It wasn't until Casey Anthony's defense lawyer arrived and the two met that Unser saw the inmate "break down" and cry. Investigators also released a two-hour video of Casey Anthony at the Sheriff's Office on the October afternoon she was indicted on a first-degree murder charge. Casey Anthony chatted with investigators from the Sheriff's Office and FBI and chuckled. Other evidence released Monday in the case: •Three interviews between investigators and Roy Kronk, the meter reader who found Caylee's remains off Suburban Drive. Kronk told investigators about the day he met Deputy Richard Cain in August to report his earlier suspicious sighting in the woods. When Kronk told the deputy he thought he saw a human skull, the deputy started arguing with him. Kronk said Cain took two steps into the area, got to the water's edge of the swamp, and that was about it. Kronk told sheriff's detectives Cain belittled him and basically told him he was wasting the county's money. •Cain told investigators different versions about what happened when he checked out Kronk's tip. Sheriff's detectives wanted to know if Cain asked Kronk to show him what he spotted earlier. Cain said he didn't, and he acknowledged that doing so would have been "reasonable." Amy L. Apr 13, 2009 5:40 pm US/Eastern Death Penalty Sought In Caylee Anthony Case ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) ― Florida prosecutors plan to seek to the death penalty against Casey Anthony, who is charged with murdering her young daughter whose remains were found in swampy woods months after she was reported missing. Anthony claimed that Caylee was kidnapped and has pleaded not guilty. Her trial has been tentatively set for October. Prosecutors filed papers of intent to seek to have Anthony executed if she is convicted of first-degree murder, said Danielle Tavernier, a spokeswoman for the State Attorney's Office in Orlando. Anthony's legal team already has lawyers who are qualified to defend death penalty cases and are prepared "for a vigorous defense," said Marti Mackenzie, a spokeswoman for Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez. "This is not a death penalty case," Mackenzie said. "We will do whatever is necessary to defend Casey Anthony from the state trying to take her life." Anthony was arrested last October, but prosecutors then didn't indicate they would seek the death penalty. She is accused of killing Caylee, who was 2 when she disappeared in June and whose remains were found in Orlando in December. Hundreds of volunteers helped search for the toddler after she was reported missing. http://kdka.com/national/caylee.anthony.casey.2.983953.html
