Search Continues in Duvall's 1988 Disappearance Jan 12, 2007 07:14 PM EST By Emily Matesic Investigators from the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department are still searching property in Manitowoc Rapids for any sign of a woman who's been missing for more than 18 years. Cheryl Spaeth-Duvall disappeared in the fall of 1988. Her ex-husband reported her missing on October 1st of that year. At the time of her disappearance, Duvall was living with John Neuser on South Parkview Road in Manitowoc Rapids. Neuser has since moved to a home on U.S. Highway 10 in Cato. Investigators began searching both properties Monday. They finished searching the Cato home that day, but they continued combing the farm in Manitowoc Rapids for a fourth straight day. While investigators are calling Neuser a person of interest in Duvall's disappearance, they're not telling us what led them to search his two homes. "Obviously we had some information, enough information to obtain a search warrant for the property, so I guess that's all I can tell you at this point, but we had enough to obtain a search warrant and enough probable cause to search the properties," Sheriff Robert Hermann said. The Cato property search warrant was returned to the court, but it's under seal so we don't know what, if anything investigators, found. The sheriff said investigators could finish up at the Manitowoc Rapids property Thursday. http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?S=5927222

Property Searches Finished in 1988 Disappearance Jan 12, 2007 07:07 PM EST By Emily Matesic Investigators finished their search of two Manitowoc County properties in their search for Cheryl Spaeth-Duvall. Duvall's ex-husband reported her missing in the fall of 1988. Officers reopened the investigation last June at the urging of Duvall's sister. Investigators wrapped up their search of property on South Parkview Road in Manitowoc Rapids on Friday after five days of searching. One of the last things they did was empty a septic tank and send a camera into it. Investigators on the scene told Action 2 News they didn't find anything in the septic tank, but it was all part of their investigation. Duvall's ex-husband, Mike Duvall, says the family just wants closure. "Everything just went cold for the longest time. You know, you always hope that things turn out right, especially for my two sons." Mr. Duvall said his youngest son was eleven years old when his ex-wife disappeared. "You're just always hoping that she would call someday. Phone call, postcard, letter, email, but none of that stuff ever came across," Mr. Duvall said. On orders from the Manitowoc County district attorney, the sheriff was not permitted to speak with us Friday about the search. The D.A. would not tell us what, if anything, was found in the search. All he would say is that it's an ongoing investigation. Duvall was living on the Manitowoc Rapids farm at the time of her disappearance. She was living with John Neuser, who's being called a person of interest. Investigators also searched Neuser's current property in Cato in Manitowoc County earlier this week. http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?S=5933232
