Thursday June 29, 2006
DOVER, Del. (AP) The House of Representatives voted to extend the statute of limitations for cases of sexual assault on children.
Legislation sponsored by Representative Greg Lavelle, a Claymont area Republican, allows a victim to bring suit up through 43 years of age.
If passed in the Senate and signed into law, he says, for now, it will only cover future crimes.
Lavelle says if passed, Delaware would have the second strongest statute of limitations in the country.
