COMEC Photo ID Program - TennesseeThe COMEC Photo ID Program helps to raise awareness and give parents an ID with key aspects about their child should they one day become missing. Several times throughout the year COMEC will provide opportunities for the community to bring their child to get a current photo ID. The largest event of the year occurs during the Mid South Fair in the Fall where COMEC volunteers man a Child Photo ID booth every day. COMEC takes a digital picture of the child and obtains key characteristics of the child such as height, weight, hair color, eye color and date of birth. These items are entered into the COMEC child database to remain on file. At the end of the process, an ID card, such as the example above, is given to the parent to keep with other personal records.
Should a child become missing for whatever reason, the police should be called as well as contacting COMEC. COMEC will then notify other missing children agencies across the country and will begin to circulate posters and flyers within the hour to help find this missing child. Because COMEC has this information at their disposal, it can easily be provided to the police and other authorities.
COMEC also provides free at-home fingerprinting kits. These are inkless and very easy to use and most importantly, this gives you one of the most vital items you can have should your child become missing - your child's unique fingerprints. You can obtain a free kit by calling the COMEC office at 901-405-8441.
