Subject: Your e-mail dated October 11, 2005, to Governor Rell Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 14:52:58 -0500 From: "Puska, Charlene" <Charlene.Puska@po.state.ct.us> To: fromwhisperstoroars@yahoo.com Ms. Name Removed: Your e-mail dated October 11, 2005, to Governor Rell has been referred to my office for review and response. I share your concerns with the safety of our children. The State of Connecticut has a comprehensive Amber Alert Statewide plan. This plan brings together Connecticut’s Department of Transportation, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, SBC Communications, and others who immediately transmit the Amber Alert Message throughout their networks. As you are aware, the first few hours of any child involved in an abduction is critical. It is essential to provide immediate, accurate, and targeted information to help safely recover the child. Connecticut participates in the regional and national amber planning sessions and continuously evaluates and adopts guidelines and practices that will benefit the children of Connecticut. Secondary distribution, such as the Internet and cell phone alerts (sign up online, at various websites) are also helpful, but not as critical in the first few hours of the investigative/recovery process. Thank you for taking the time to write with your suggestions and allowing me the opportunity to respond. Sincerely, Leonard C. Boyle COMMISSIONER
