The family of a 16-year-old girl is pleading for her killer to turn them self in, after her body was found, January 1, beaten and sexually assaulted in an alley on Detroit’s west side.
Dantoya White, a 10th grader at Cody High School, was last seen leaving the Detroit Public Library on December 29.
According to Sergeant Lanesha Jones, a witness to her abduction said, "It didn’t seem right because the young lady was being dragged. The person that was dragging her had one arm around her neck and the other hand covering her mouth. The young lady looked like she was fearing for her life."
That witness, a teenager, said she told her family who called police. But police said they have no record of that call.
Debra Baldwin, Dantoya’s aunt said, "It was random. I’m gonna say that, but I don’t know. You can’t believe that if you knew her, that you’d do that type of violent crime to her. I can’ fathom that. It’s unbelievable."
Family members and Detroit police are asking anyone who has information about the crime to call the Detroit Police Department.
