Published October 22, 2006 < From Lansing State Journal > Husband sought in killing at credit union Police to seek murder charge in Okemos slaying By Melissa Domsic Lansing State Journal OKEMOS - Police plan to seek a murder charge today against the husband of a Haslett woman found shot to death outside a credit union. Catherine Holmes, 62, was found dead at about 10 a.m. Friday in her car in the parking lot of the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union on Central Park Drive, Meridian Township police said. Customers called police after they heard an argument followed by loud noises, Sgt. Greg Frenger said. "They were not aware it was shots at the time, but it drew their attention," he said. Donald Holmes, 64, was seen leaving the parking lot in his car. Police found his wife dead in her car when they arrived. He still is being sought. Donald Holmes is a program presenter for the MSU Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, MSU spokesman Terry Denbow said. He said Holmes was an MSU police officer about 30 years ago. He will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today at the 55th District Court in Mason, before Judge Rosemarie Aquilina. Holmes turned himself in to the Ingham County Sheriff's Department at 5 a.m. today. Meridian Township police officials said Holmes' surrender was without incident.
