A registered sex offender to be released Tuesday from Jackson Correctional Institution in Black River Falls will live with relatives in the Town of Hartford, Washington County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said.
Donald W. Thexton, 23, will reside at 3084 Rolaine Parkway. Sheriff’s deputies earlier this month informed neighbors of his pending move to the town, Schmidt said.
Thexton has two separate convictions of second-degree sexual assault of a child and one conviction of third-degree sexual assault of a child for crimes committed in 2001, 2002 and 2003, court records show. His criminal history indicates Thexton remains a possible threat to children, Schmidt said.
To reduce the threat to the public, the state Department of Corrections will closely monitor Thexton through 2018 and require him to wear a GPS tracking unit at all times.
Among restrictions on his activities, Thexton will not be allowed in the Pike Lake Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The popular family recreational area is a short distance north of Rolaine Parkway.
