Email Example For Maryland's Amber Alert System
Contact Information Governor Robert L. Ehrlich Web Site: www.gov.state.md.us E-mail through Web Page at http://www.gov.state.md.us/mail Annapolis, MD 21401 Phone: (410) 974-3901 Fax: (410) 974-3275 Washington Office: 444 N. Capitol St., NW, Ste. 311 Washington 20001 Phone: (202) 624-1430 Fax: (202) 783-3061 Dear Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, I am writing to inform you of a problem with your states Amber Alert System. I am part of a group Nationwide that posts information on current and past missing persons. While searching your state's Amber Alert website, I noticed that you do not have a section for local Missing Children Alerts. By that I mean there isn’t a National Alert Ticker or Local one. In addition, I found that there is no section for abducted/endangered or other missing persons alerts. I also did not notice a way to sign up for email or wireless alerts. I understand there are Radio and Television Alerts but what about the internet and cell phones? If a person isn’t watching television or listening to the radio these alerts are missed and precious seconds are wasted. I implore you please look into this problem and repair it as quickly as possible. Having an Amber Plan in place is great. But if it doesn’t work properly then why have it at all? Look at the case in Ohio of 19 month old Aliyah Starling Myrick. The Amber Alert being issued about six hours after the initial call came in. And no one in our network received that alert because their system is also flawed. She was murdered and left in a park to be found the next day by passerby. All of these flaws are doing an injustice to the children it is meant to help. If I am wrong please direct me to the proper page. Our members have done exhaustive searches on Yahoo, Google and other search engines and came up empty handed. These are precious seconds that could be used searching for the endangered child or posting flyers. Too many of our children are being murdered because valuable information is not being given out in a timely manner. I hope you will look into this complaint seriously and remedy the situation. Don’t let another small voice be silenced because of lack of vital information. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, REMOVED www.fromwhisperstoroars.org
