I said I was mad. Date: Sat, 8 Oct 2005 21:14:00 -0700 (PDT) From: "FromWhispersToRoars Admin" <fromwhisperstoroars@yahoo.com> Subject: Michigan's Amber Alert System To: first.lady@whitehouse.gov Dear Mrs. Bush, I am writing you to ask for you assistance. I know the health and welfare of children is a subject close to your heart. It is to mine too Recently I have come across several State/Government sites that are completely inadequate when it comes to their Amber Alert System. One that is standing out right now is Michigan. It took hours or searching and information on a missing child was never found. Their site sends you in circles till you just want to give up. I have sent the Governor an email and I would like to show you a copy of it. Dear Governor Jennifer Granholm I am writing to inform you of a Major problem with your states Amber Alert System. I am part of a group Nationwide that posts information on current and past missing persons. While searching your state I noticed that you do not have a section for local Missing Children Alerts. By that I mean there is a National Alert Ticker but not Local one. And when searching each Police Departments web page there is NO section for abducted/endangered or other missing persons press releases or Alerts. I implore you please look into this problem and repair it as quickly as possible. Having an Amber Plan in place is great. But if it doesn’t work why have it at all. Look at the case in Ohio of 19 month old Aliyah Starling Myrick. The Amber Alert being issued about six hours after the initial call came in. And no one in our network received that alert because their System is also flawed. She was murdered and left in a park to be found the next day by passersby. All these flaws are doing an injustice to the children it is meant to help. If I am wrong please direct me to the proper page. Our members have done exhaustive searches on Yahoo, Google and other search engines and came up empty handed. These are precious seconds that could be used searching for the endangered child or posting flyers. Too many of our children are being murdered because valuable information is not being given out or in a timely manner. I hope you will look into this complaint seriously and remedy the situation. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, name removed www.fromwhisperstoroars.org Please Mrs. Bush can you have someone look into this very important problem. Like I said to the Governor our children are becoming victims of a service meant to help them. Thank you very much. Sincerely, name removed Mr President is next.
