Free Finger Printing During 'Safe Kids Week', Monmouth IL
Safe Kids Week Tuesday, May 2, 2006 12:55 PM CDT Daily Review Atlas MONMOUTH - The first hour that a child is missing is crucial. Having accurate information about the child, a general description, any unique information about the child, is a vital tool for police. The National Child Safety Council, a Federal Tax-Exempt, Non-Profit Organization, dedicated to the safety of children proclaims this week as Safe Kids Week. Tragically, over one million children are reported missing every year and over 50,000 children remain unaccounted for. The problem is not limited to the larger cities. In recent months there have been attempted child abductions in communities like Blandinsville, Colchester, Good Hope, LaHarpe, and Macomb. Out of concern for young people, we are providing a service that could protect your family with records of your children, which you keep at home. In an emergency it is essential that police have clear, accurate fingerprints and dental records to assist in the investigation and in locating or identifying a missing child. These records are a necessary part of every child's home identification file. This is a voluntary program. Only those children whose parents or guardians have given written consent will be fingerprinted. A trained person will take one set of fingerprints from your child, who would then take the form home for safekeeping. In celebration of Safe Kids Week, Pizza Hut along with the Monmouth Police Department and the Warren County Sheriff's Department is sponsoring kid's free finger printing. Finger printing will be Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Pizza Hut, 837 North Main Street in Monmouth. Kids of all ages up to 16 years old are welcome.
