Police seek parts of body
Medical examiner says torso found without head, hands and feet is that of woman 30-40 years old.

DETROIT -- City police on Tuesday warned suburban officers to be on the lookout for missing body parts, one day after a headless, footless and handless woman's torso was found in a sewer in an east side alley.
Medical examiners also Tuesday confirmed the victim, whom police said wore only underpants, was 30-40 years old. Monday, police gave conflicting accounts of the gender.
Police have yet to recover any other body parts. Since the torso lacks fingerprints, officers haven't identified the woman, but hope the torso contains clues. The medical examiner's office won't end its investigation until at least today. It may shed light on the cause of death, which remains unknown.
"We're hoping there are some ID marks that we can put out to the public," said Sgt. Eren Stephens-Bell.
The mystery began about 10 a.m. Monday when a Detroit Water and Sewerage inspector found the torso about 10 a.m. in an alley behind the Rising Saints God in Christ Church near Kercheval and Montclair. Residents complained for days about an odor and investigators believe the body was there for more than a week.
Investigators now believe the victim was not killed or cut at the site. There was no blood found nearby.
The gruesome discovery is the second this month in Metro Detroit involving a headless torso mutilated in an apparent effort to conceal the victim's identity.
Two suburban Wayne County teens face a hearing on Friday on claims they killed a River Rouge bouncer, cut off his head and burned his hands and feet.
Investigators needed three days to find all the body parts but were able to identify the victim as Daniel Sorensen, 26, from a sole fingerprint.
Jean Pierre Orlewicz, 17, of Plymouth and Alexander James Letkemann, 18, of Westland remain jailed and face multiple charges that could imprison them for life.
