John Flowers admitted to the Las Vegas Metro Police that he killed the victim at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and transported her body to Arizona. Her remains were buried and the records were misplaced making it impossible to locate her remains to have a new composite done. Ginger Rios was murdered in Las Vegas on April 4, 1997 in The Spy Craft bookstore by its owner, John Flowers, also known as Craig Jacobsen. After the murder he buried her in the Pinal County, Arizona desert where she remained until being found August 16, 1997. Investigators are trying to determine whether there are any connections between the two bodies, buried a few hundred yards from eachother. Since August 1994, the remains of five women have been found within a four-mile radius in the far eastern portion of the Las Vegas Valley, including the Lake Mead National Recreational Area. Flowers was accused and indicted, offered the plea bargain of guilty but mentally ill on two counts of murder with possibility of parole after 20 plus 5 years. He's been able to appeal this conviction and will get a new trial January 6, 2003 because of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that Nevada's insanity plea laws are unconstitutional.
