Durham — Police investigators spent the past week in Salt Lake City working with the FBI on a nearly 2-year-old unsolved homicide case involving a pregnant Durham mother.
Investigators would not say much about their work in Utah but said an FBI agent interviewed Raven Abaroa on Thursday.
He moved to Utah shortly after his wife, Janet, was killed in April 2005. The 25-year-old was found stabbed to death in a bedroom of her west Durham home.
Janet Abaroa was pregnant with her second child when she died. The couple's 6-month-old son was found unharmed nearby.
Raven Abaroa told police he found his wife's body after he returned home from an evening soccer game.
Investigators said there was no sign of forced entry at the house, and police have maintained that the slaying wasn't a random crime.
Durham police have not called Raven Abaroa a suspect in his wife's death and said he was cooperative during the FBI interview last week.
Two months before his wife was killed, Abaroa was charged with embezzling $10,000 from his former employer. He later pleaded guilty and is halfway through a two-year probation sentence.
