A week after being taken from a Henry County School, Jeffre Few remains missing. Jeffre was picked up at Flippen Elementary School in Stockbridge, GA by his mother, Jennifer Cook though Jeffre's father, Shawn Few, had just been granted full custody.
The couple have been divorced for three years and have shared joint custody of their son, Jeffre. Shawn Few took a year long job in Kuwait and was contacted six months into his year term that his ex-wife, Jennifer Cook, was hospitalized. Few was not specific on any medical details regarding Cook.
Few was granted temporary full custody of Jeffre after his arrival from Kuwait. Fearing his ex-wife may try to take Jeffre, Few notified the school officials that Jeffre was to leave the school with only Shawn Few. Monday an email was sent to the school as Shawn Few giving permission for Jeffre to be dismissed at the end of school rather than attend the after-school program, according to authorities. It was later discovered Shawn Few sent no such email and it appears Jennifer Cook posed as her ex-husband in order to get Jeffre after school. Because the papers of temporary full custody have not been served, she is not being charged with kidnapping but instead is being charged with felony prescription drug fraud as she reportedly committed this fraud on the same day.
Anyone with information is asked to call Henry County Police at 770-957-9121.
Due to these recent events Henry County schools have sent home dismissal protocol reminders to all parents.
The Henry County handbook clearly states:
Students may not make changes in the way they usually go home unless they have a note signed by their parent. Parents should give specific dates and instructions to explain any change to the way their child should be transported home.
Last minute requests for transportation changes can confuse and upset students. To avoid confusion and disruption, parents are asked to notify the school as early as possible if it becomes necessary to make an unanticipated change to the way their child should be transported home.
In addition to the Henry County handbook protocol, most schools are also requesting further policy support by the following:
Schools cannot accept changes via phone
Schools cannot accept changes via fax unless the requesting parent includes a copy of their driver's license along with a handwritten note that is signed.
Schools cannot accept emailed changes of transportation.
