The Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man whose body was found two years ago.
The first facial sketch was made earlier this month with help from the New Jersey State Police forensic anthropologist and a sketch artist.
The body was found in the park’s Fort Lee area, on the border of Englewood Cliffs, on April 6, 2006.
The man, with light-colored hair, is estimated to have been 45-65 years old at the time of his death. He is approximately 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10 tall, the police said in a statement. Based on forensic analysis, the body was at the scene at least one year prior to the time of recovery, according to Detective Sgt. Michael Coppola.
The man had a broken nose at some point in his life, as well as an injury to his left eye. He also had recovered from rib fractures on his right side and it is possible he walked with a limp, Coppola said. The man also might have had back pain and arthritis, the statement said. The department has DNA samples, and bone and dental X-rays on file, police said. DNA matches can be made by a mother, father, or any maternal relative.
Found with the body were two watches, one made by Field and Stream and the other by Pierre Cardin, Coppola said.
