Forensic expert summoned to help ID body near Ky. 17 ENQUIRER STAFF REPORT COVINGTON - A Kentucky forensic anthropologist was called to Northern Kentucky Friday afternoon after human remains were found near Ky. 17. A person taking a walk found the remains, including a human skull, at about 1 p.m. in a wooded area just south of Howard Litzler Drive, according to police. "We have no idea how long they could have been there," said Lt. Teal Nally, spokesman for Covington police. Evidence at the scene indicated the remains were that of a white male who died of natural causes, police said. Nally said officers did not know the identity of the man. A full autopsy will be performed. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060325/NEWS0103/603250382/1077/rss02

Human Remains Discovered In Covington LAST UPDATE: 3/24/2006 10:55:41 PM Questions surround the discovery of human remains in Covington on Friday. A man walking in the woods discovered what looked like a skull near the tree-line. When police took a closer look at the wooded area they found most of a skeleton. A state forensic anthropologist was called in from Frankfort. Dr. Emily Craig quickly determined the skeleton is from an adult, white male. "The bones are very specific for race and sex in this particular case," Dr. Craig said. But what she wouldn't say is if the remains showed signs of trauma that could indicate foul play. "There is clothing," Craig said "but we're going to wait and do a further analysis so we can give sizes and descriptions and things like that." Bonnie Ellison's family once owned the 25 acres of land on which the bones were found. The land is now under state control, still she doesn't like something so gruesome so close to where she lives. "You wonder if they were put up there, if somebody put them up there" Ellison said, "I mean how did they get up there. I guess they'll find out, right?" That work is just beginning. Police must now look for anyone who's gone missing in the past several years, hoping someone knows who the remains belong to and how his body wound at that location in Covington. http://www.wkrc.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=B65AD1CD-A1ED-45D8-80DD-40613526D9AD
