Case History
The victim's badly decomposed body was found floating in a salt marsh on the outskirts of Vallejo. A wad of paper was found shoved down his throat.
Sheriff's dispatch was alerted to the dead body at 5 a.m. March 23. A fisherman in the area called after finding the blackened body floating in the sloughs a couple miles west of Vallejo. The area is near Skaggs Island Road, and there is about a 20-foot strip of dirt that separates the remote body of water from Highway 37. Detectives have not determined whether the body floated from the bay, or if the man was killed elsewhere and dumped in the slough. There was no recognizable trauma to the body, and it is not known how long it may have been in the water.
