Trial Date Set For Teacher Who Ran Away With Student To Mexico POSTED: 5:47 pm CDT April 18, 2008 UPDATED: 7:29 pm CDT April 18, 2008 OMAHA, Neb. -- A trial date is set for the former Lexington, Neb., school teacher accused of taking a former student to Mexico. Kelsey Peterson, 25, is accused of having a sexual relationship with then-13-year-old Fernando Rodriguez. Peterson's attorney had been trying to work out a deal with prosecutors which would have allowed her to plead guilty to a lesser charge. Attorney James Martin Davis said, “She is not innocent, she crossed the line with respect to what she did, but she should not be facing a 10-year mandatory minimum for her conduct.” Peterson's trial is scheduled to begin July 8. http://www.ketv.com/news/15927603/detail.html
