ST. GEORGE - The LaVerkin Police Department is asking the public for its help in locating Kenneth Duane Ellis, who has allegedly failed to register as a sex offender.
Chief Lloyd Watkins said Ellis last registered in 2005 and listed his address as the Silver Springs Trailer Park, 44 W. 500 North in LaVerkin. That park has been shut down and unoccupied since March of this year, he said.
Watkins said Ellis is wanted on a third-degree felony warrant for allegedly failing to register his new address.
Watkins said a sex offender is required to register every year on their birth date and within 10 days of changing their address.
Watkins said the police department has begun monthly checks on the 12 registered sex offenders who live in LaVerkin to verify that they are living at their reported address.
"These people can now expect to get a tap on their door once a month as we keep tabs on them," Watkins said.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Ellis is asked to contact the LaVerkin Police Department at 635-0427.
