Search under way for missing Georgia woman Published: Aug. 17, 2009 at 12:17 PM BLAIRSVILLE, Ga., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- More than 100 officers searched Monday for a former probation officer in Blairsville, Ga., who may have been abducted, police said. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said authorities have searched for Kristi Cornwell, 38, for five days. Police said Cornwell disappeared last week while taking a walk on a seldom-used Blairsville road. Cornwell's boyfriend, who was not identified, told authorities he heard a struggle while talking with her on the phone. He said Cornwell told him she was being followed by a car. Cornwell's brother Richard told the Journal-Constitution his sister was well-prepared for potentially violent situations because of her background as a probation officer and self-defense instructor. "She could fight off almost anyone. She had firearms training, self-defense training," Richard Cornwell said Sunday. "I think she's better prepared for this situation than anyone else. That's what keeps us positive. She has the tools she needs." http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2009/08/17/Search-under-way-for-missing-Georgia-woman/UPI-88301250525839/

Brother Richard Cornwell said his sister is well suited to deal with emergency situations as a former probation officer with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Authorities believe Cornwell was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her cell phone. The phone was found by a man mowing his lawn Friday. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/national/south/view.bg?articleid=1191637&srvc=rss
