LEXISNEXIS supports mission of NCMEC
Press Release LEXISNEXIS SUPPORTS MISSION OF THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING AND EXPLOITED CHILDREN Donated Technology Enables Organization to Help Law Enforcement Locate Missing Children More Quickly WASHINGTON, D.C., May 25, 2006 – LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of information and services solutions, is collaborating with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) to commemorate National Missing Children’s Day on May 25th. This day serves as a reminder to make child protection a priority and honors those who are dedicated to the effort of finding missing children and preventing child sexual exploitation. National Missing Children’s Day was established in honor of six-year-old Etan Patz, who disappeared on May 25, 1979, while on the way to school in New York City. Patz’s disappearance attracted widespread attention and the case remains unsolved. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 to be National Missing Children’s Day in remembrance of Patz. In support of NCMEC’s mission, LexisNexis donates the use of its investigative solutions that enable the organization to respond more quickly when faced with missing child cases. The advanced technology provides NCMEC’s analysts with vital information and analytical tools that enable them to assist law enforcement to rapidly identify potential leads when a child is reported missing. LexisNexis® solutions empower law enforcement and public safety customers to leverage data, fusion technology and advanced analytics to rapidly conduct investigations and locate suspects, witnesses, and missing children. “The speed in which LexisNexis technology can process disparate information sources and return relevant, usable information is key, especially in missing child cases where every second counts,” said Norm Willox, CEO, LexisNexis Special Services, a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of Reed Elsevier Inc. “We have been a long-time supporter of NCMEC in their mission to help recover missing children and prevent child sexual exploitation by providing the organization with valuable investigative solutions.” “LexisNexis has played a key role in helping us resolve hundreds of cases,” said Ernie Allen, president and CEO of NCMEC. “NCMEC relies on the generosity of organizations like LexisNexis to provide the tools necessary to help us track down missing children and bring them home.” About the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children?
