Logan's Law has been amended in its entirety into SB205 (Governor's sex offender bill). The senate passed the amended bill unanimously, 33 to 0, on March 1, 2006. Logan's Law now moves to the House for consideration and, if passed in the House, on to the Governor for signature. Unfortunately, the Governor today publically spoke out against this bill, calling it "too expensive". We expect the Governor to marshall his forces in the Legislature to defeat Logan's Law. Also ask them to make sure that Logan's Law is on the agenda to speed up its passage. Please make sure to note in your communication that we cannot put a price on protecting our children from sexual offenders. Also remind each person that you notify that, according to the WV Division of Corrections, by the time a sex offender is arrested they have already had at least 70 victims!!
