Police: Man Steals Car, Missing Pig Found Inside
(AP) WHEELING, W.Va.
Call it a case of pignapping.
Wheeling police found a missing potbellied pig early yesterday in the back seat of a car that had been reported stolen in Ohio.
The car's owner had told the Belmont County Sheriff's Department in Ohio that their pet pig was in the vehicle when it was stolen Tuesday afternoon from a restaurant parking lot in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
According to a police report, the Wheeling officers began following the car when they saw the driver, William N. Ward of St. Clairsville, allegedly stagger to it at an intersection. They stopped the car after it allegedly swerved several times and hit curbs.
The 50-year-old Ward was charged with receiving stolen property, driving under the influence and driving on a license revoked for a prior DUI. He was being held last night at the Northern Regional Jail.
Police contacted animal control officers to take the pig.
