At this time CASOO is searching Coshoctons Records for the first missing child in our area. We are pleased to say that the documents have been well preserved, and they wheigh more than 15 pounds. Only a partial of the documents have been read, but we know the first rape case dates back to the 1800's. How sad that even back then, they could abuse. We will be posting our findings for Coshocton, once all names are taken, we think this will take us about a period of oh 6 months, however our children missing do date back to Mary's time. You know the one executed for being a witch. Our community thought the children that were disappearing were her doings, so it is said that they found her guilty of the witchery, and cut off her head. They to protect the town, buried the body very seperate from the head. So that she would remain dead. For it is said if her head would be rejoined, than for her life would return, and children well they would be dead. She vowed to them they would regret and more misfortune the town would beget. We think our records will show an earlier incident of the earliest missing child leading up to the one listed for this site and want to help Themis with her plight in finding the true history of Ohios missing children.So now heres the clues Themis and may you find delight in knowing just a piece of our flights. First Recorded Murdered Children Of Mary Stockum
The first recorded murdered child in Ohio is 1862, it was Marys first child. It was born mentally retarded and according to the records it was her significant other at the time. She then had three more children that were not to be found, because they to were killed. Mary Stockum was 42 when she was burned at the stake here in Coshocton. A fifth child became ill shortly after her death, so villagers dug her body up, for fear her threat towards them would come true. They cut her head off and then placed her body back in the ground. Burying her head on the opposite of sacred ground. A decendant works at the very court house she was sentenced in. She is helping us on some of the mystery. The church where Marys buried is burnt all the way to the ground now. It was arson and the arsonist is now serving time. It should be noted in all of the old documents to todays time, the same names of lawyer officials, and court officials still remain as the names that serve in Coshocton now, and don't ask ant of the elders they get scared like of the dead. GEE don't they know dead people can't hurt you, it's the living you have to worry about. Hmmm wonder how they have managed to keep in the same job positions, with their families name all these centuries????????????
