Please join the San Diego East County Coalition for an evening of community building and support for our children and youth. Your participation can help change the lifetime of a child in East County who needs a lifelong connection to an adult or a family and to our community. More than 6,400 children are in foster care in San Diego County–all of whom need stable, loving and permanent homes. Neighborhood for Kids–East County and 15 organizations that provide services to foster children in San Diego County, are joining together in an unprecedented partnership to address the urgent need for community and family support for the many foster children and youth in East County. There’s No Place Like Home An Evening to Benefit The First Place Fund for Youth
There’s No Place Like Home is the only fundraising event First Place holds to raise needed funds for housing and support services for former foster youth. First Place works to ensure that all foster youth have the opportunity to experience a safe, supported transition from foster care. Through a housing program, an academic enrichment program, counseling, youth community center, and collaboration with other Bay Area agencies, we help youth to gain the skills to live independently and succeed on their own. Conquering Life through Education
This is an event for current foster youth from 9th grade to 12th grade and their staff/caretakers. This event will be given on the grounds of the University of La Verne, La Verne California. Youth will learn the importance of a higher education, admissions, FAFSA, Chafee Grant, and other financial aids available for current foster youth. We will kick it off with lunch, followed by workshops, games, prices and a campus tour given by current students who are attending the University. The night will then end with a dance and munchies for the youth and their caretakers.
