SATURDAY, MAY 6 5K walk Tennessee What: The Rape & Sexual Abuse Center annual Walk in Their Shoes 5k walk Who: open to the public. When: 7:45 a.m. registration on-site. 8:15 a.m. program and 8:30 a.m. walk begins. Where: The route starts in the Coliseum's parking lot, continues over the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge, past the center's headquarters and back. Why: This year, the center will line the Shelby Street Walking Bridge with hundreds of donated shoes. Especially wanted are shoes donated by survivors or family members of survivors of sexual abuse to show the impact this violence has on the community. Dine Out for Samaritan House at Max & Erma’s on Thursday, May 11 There’s a new kind of fundraiser in town that’s so easy! You have to eat, right? Well, you can feed your family and support Samaritan House at the Pembroke Max & Erma’s located at 4512 Virginia Beach Blvd on Thursday, May 11. Just print out this flyer and bring it with you when you go. The more you eat, the more money we raise, as 20% of each check is donated back to Samaritan House. The fundraiser is all day long. Sexual Abuse Informational event (MA) Monday, May 15, 2006 West Newton The Newton Partnership to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse is putting on an informational event Wednesday, May 17, 7 to 9 p.m., at Newton Community Service Center auditorium, 492 Waltham St. Preventing Child Sexual Abuse in Our Homes and Community, featuring Bob Baker, director of Operations at the MA Sex Offender Registrty Board, and Jetta Bernier, chair of the MA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Partnership, will address issues of community safety and sex offenders, as well as ways that adults can take action to prevent child sexual abuse.
