LIBERTY, Mo. -- A funeral was held Friday for a beloved cat in downtown Liberty.
Bogie the Liberty Square cat was remembered at a public memorial service. The 13-year-old feline was a fixture around the Clay County Courthouse and Liberty Square for nearly a decade.
Many who attended said the square isn't the same without Bogie.
"He taught people how to smile, how to be friendly and how to forget about their troubles for a couple of minutes," one attendee said.
Bogie's ashes will be kept in an urn on display. In lieu of flowers, mourners made contributions to the Liberty Animal Shelter.
