After three days of relative silence from the Sheriff's office and plenty of unanswered questions about the death of Linda Neely, police have now made an arrest. Deputies have charged Michael Neely with first-degree manslaughter in the death of his estranged wife.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh said, "The cause of death is a stab wound to the heart, and we have recovered a knife that we are investigating and still trying to match up forensically."

A town of Onondaga man now stands accused of killing his wife over the weekend. Our Lacey Johnson was able to speak to the husband, who claims he doesn't remember what happened.
Officials say there is no record of Michael Neely ever being charged in a domestic incident, but friends and family of the Neelys' claim there is a history of domestic violence. In August Linda set the wheels in motion to protect herself from her husband, securing an order of protection which removed eight guns from their home.
"The family court judge felt there was sufficient reason to have those weapons removed so that was part of the order,” Walsh said. “Another part of the order was that he was to move out of the house until such time as she found other living accommodations."
Michael Neely was placed under 24 hour guard Monday night at University Hospital. Officials say he is in good condition and in a half-body cast after a serious car crash in Cortland County Saturday.
That crash occurred just minutes before Linda's body was discovered in the Broad Road house they once shared. Sheriff's detectives say they spoke only briefly with their suspect on Saturday before he retained counsel.
But News 10 Now called University Hospital Monday evening and spoke with a man identifying himself as Neely. We asked him to comment on the incident with his wife, and also about what caused his car crash.
He responded to both questions saying: "I don't remember."
We told Sheriff Walsh about that conversation.
His reaction: "How convenient."
Michael Neely faces up to 25 years in jail if convicted of the manslaughter of his wife. The Neely's have two children 13 and 17-years old.
