Missing Persons - adding UID's to the Associated Press

I would like to see a law enacted that would require media to add John and Jane Does to the Associated Press thereby giving them national coverage. The plight of the missing person and the unidentified dead is a serious issue which seems to be largely ignorned. With no serious laws to help the thousands of families involved in this living nightmare, we cannot hope to ever offer the end of the nightmare to our fellow American citizens.
Running a story in the local paper does not help most of these cases since most likely the person did not come from that area. This is the current policy being followed by media sources all over the United States.
In the research I have done, some cold cases and unidentified victims are not even released to the public and some are not even entered into the NCIC database.
Something needs to be done because I think this is serious issue that needs more attention. Every single one of these unidentified persons is someone's child, parent or sibling.
They all have a name and deserve to have that name back. The families of these victims deserve to know what happened to their loved one. They need to have closure, regardless of the outcome.
These pitiful souls no longer have a voice and we as citizens of the United States of America need to be their advocate and lend our voices so that they may finally rest in peace.
