Mother of Abandoned Newborn Sought, CAJanuary 16, 2007
OCEANSIDE – Police are searching for the mother of a newborn baby boy who was found abandoned in restroom at Tri-City Medical Center Sunday morning, police said.
The baby, with the umbilical cord attached, was admitted into the hospital in good health, Oceanside police Sgt. Leonard Mata said.
A hospital staff member found the boy in a women's bathroom just before 7 a.m. Someone had tied a shoelace around the umbilical cord to prevent the baby from bleeding, Mata said.
Child Protective Services will take custody of the baby once he is ready to leave the hospital.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (760) 435-4911.
