May 17, 2006 5:55 pm US/Pacific New Game Teaches Web Safety To Teens (CBS 13) SACRAMENTO Chat rooms and online messaging are popular among today's teens. But a place for innocent chit chat could become an opportunity for online predators. According to the national center for missing and exploited children, one out of every five kids say they've been solicited for sex on the internet. At California Middle School in Sacramento chat rooms are blocked to protect students. But how can kids stay safe from online stalkers, at any computer? Senator Liz Figueroa says a valuable tool could be a new video game. ‘Mirror Image’ teaches kids how to be safe in online chat rooms. Web wise kids created the detective style game that challenges teens to outsmart cyber stalkers. Players have to answer the detective questions and make the connection between the girl's online activities and the mysterious black van that follows them wherever they go. Educators say the games interactive style could make it more appealing to today's tech savvy teens. http://cbs13.com/local/local_story_137195058.html
