Numbers like that prompted area child advocacy agencies to gather Saturday at MCC for Rochester’s first ever "Speak Out" event. Through awareness, the program encourages victims of abuse to ask for help. "It is important for survivors to speak out, to have an opportunity to break the silence and break the secretiveness that surrounds abuse," said Maggie Watson, organizer.
