Dear Gregory Willeford :
I have a few questions about your states Amber Alert System. I was wondering where I would find active alerts. I do not see a place on the site that shows local or national activated alerts. I see where you can view old alerts, but what about current activated ones? Also, is there a section on your site where people can sign up to receive wireless alerts? I did notice a link to where people can sign up for e-mail alerts which is wonderful. I understand there are radio and television Alerts, but If a person isn’t watching television or listening to the radio these alerts are missed, and precious seconds are wasted. As you know, in today's society we are much more dependent on our cell phones and internet as opposed to TV and radio. And lastly, is there a specific site to go to view Active Alerts or a ticker? I am also looking for non Amber situations such as endangered or critical missing.
I work for a site that lists current Amber Alerts nationwide and we would like to know how to get Oregon information when needed. I am writing to you because I am concerned that some of the Amber Plans are not working properly. Look at the case in Ohio of 19 month old Aliyah Starling Myrick. The Amber Alert being issued was about six hours after the initial call came in. And no one in our network received that alert because their System is also flawed. She was murdered and left in a park to be found the next day by a passersby. All these flaws are doing an injustice to the children it is meant to help.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
REMOVED
