Pioneer Cellular -- Free Amber Alerts For Up to 5 Zip Codes
Pioneer Cellular providing AMBER alerts KINGFISHER -- Pioneer Cellular, based out of Kingfisher, Woodward and Enid, has announced the company is now providing AMBER (American's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response) alerts as an added resource for law enforcement agencies in the event of an abduction. Wireless users of Pioneer Cellular now have the capability of receiving AMBER alerts via their Pioneer Cellular phone. Pioneer customers may visit the company's Web site at www.ptci.com or dial (888) 782-2667 when subscribing to wireless AMBER alerts. Customers can register and receive alerts for up to five zip code areas where they could potentially identify perpetrators and have access to the immediate means to guide law enforcement officials. If a child is abducted or is in imminent danger within the zip codes selected, customers will receive a text message via the Pioneer Cellular phone system. This alert may allow customers to assist in the rescue of the abducted child. The AMBER Alert plan was named in memory of Amber Hagerman, a 9-year-old Texas girl who was kidnapped and murdered in 1996. The AMBER system was expanded into the wireless arena through the partnership of CTIA-the Wireless Association, The Wireless Foundation, National Center for Missing -- Exploited Children and wireless carriers throughout the United States. Statistics show 74 percent of children abducted are found dead within the first three hours after being taken. Not only will AMBER Alerts help with finding abducted children, they will serve as deterrents to criminals if they know the public is watching them through AMBER Alerts.
