Police Try to Taser Runaway Cow, SC
Posted on Wed, Oct. 11, 2006 Police try to Taser a runaway cow Associated Press WALTERBORO, S.C. - While a Taser may work on a billy goat gruff, it apparently is not very effective on runaway pot roast. Colleton County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Scott used a Taser twice Monday on a cow wandering along a road threatening the cause an accident, according to an incident report. Scott's supervisor gave permission to use the Taser to stun the animal so its owner could rope it. The first time the animal fell to the ground dazed, but not in a position where the owner could lasso it. Even after a second zap, the owner couldn't corral the animal. Then the Taser prong fell off and the cow in turn ran off. Deputies spent several hours chasing it in and out of traffic before suspending the pursuit, according to the report. They later received a call the animal was running toward Walterboro where a city officer saw, but then lost the cow. Last January, Scott also used a Taser to rescue a Cottageville woman from an aggressive billy goat named Dodge, who was later adopted. A Taser International spokesman said at the time the strangest animals he ever heard of stunned by officers were moose and an ostrich. http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/15732841.htm
