OVIEDO -- -Oviedo police this week plan to contact registered sex offenders and predators who live in the city to ensure they do not participate in Halloween-related activities.
The department's Community Response Team is working with the Seminole County Sheriff's Office to coordinate the monitoring program, said Oviedo police Cmdr. Marc Beaulieu said.
The team also works to ensure sex offenders and predators abide by city ordinances that prohibit them from living within 2,500 feet of schools, day-care centers and other places children congregate.
Elaine Aradillas, Willoughby Mariano, Ludmilla Lelis, Robert Perez, Sandra Pedicini and Kevin P. Connolly of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report. Information from The Associated Press also was used.
