Okaloosa County residents are the first along the Emerald Coast to have access to a new online sex offender and predator tracking tool.
The program, Offender Watch, is designed to send instant alerts to a participant’s e-mail address as soon as a convicted sex offender or predator registers an address with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office within a mile of the participant’s address.
Those who wish to receive the notification can sign up at the Sheriff’s Office Web site,
www.sheriff-okaloosa.org/offenderWatch/.
“Just give us an e-mail address and we’ll give you all the information,” Sheriff Charlie Morris said.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is one of seven agencies in Florida, and the only one in Northwest Florida, to use the program.
