Investigators Ask For Help In Solving Baby's Death Precious Joe's death has been classified as a cold case Last Edited: Friday, 25 Apr 2008, 10:25 AM CDT Created: Friday, 25 Apr 2008, 10:25 AM CDT Kansas City, Missouri Police and Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd have again asked for the public's help in solving a four-year-old case involving a dead newborn found along a road in Platte County. "Precious Joe," as the baby has been called, was found by Kansas City Power and Light workers on April 26, 2004 near Tiffany Springs Road and North Hull. Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said, "April 26 is the four-year anniversary of the discovery of Precious Joe. We all remember Precious Doe, and thankfully, with the public's help, that little girl was identified. Now, more than ever, we really need people's help to solve another important case involving the death of a young child." Precious Joe is a white male newborn. His body was found by electric line workers along the road near Tiffany Springs Road and North Hull. The baby was lying under a Wal-Mart bag. Police also found a hoop earring near the child's body. The case is now being investigated by the Kansas City Police Department's Cold Case Squad. Kansas City Police Chief Jim Corwin said, "Someone knows what happened to this baby and how and why he was placed in this location. I urge that person to call the TIPS Hotline to help us learn what happened." The TIPS Hotline number is (816) 474-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous, and a reward is available for information that leads to the identity of Precious Joe. Zahnd said, "As we see too often along our roadsides, only a small cross remains where Precious Joe was found four years ago. For Precious Joe's sake, we need your help."
