Last year alone, more than 61,000 children were victims of child abuse in Texas.
"If they don't learn how to handle their stress, then they get angry, but what we teach parents here is the only person that can make you angry is yourself," Any Baby Can Parenting Education Coordinator Denise Little said. "So we try to give them the nuggets that they need to be able to deal with their anger."
It's advised that before parents lose control, they should go to another room, find a way to calm the anger, call a friend for a reality check, or even call 911.
"Folks who are abused as children are much, much more likely to grow up and abuse their own children when they get to that age," Child Protective Services Public Information Officer Chris Van Deusen said.
Money, relationships and poor anger management can often cause even the smallest of actions to escalate out of control.
