Police ask for help finding missing Orem woman The Salt Lake Tribune Updated: 06/02/2009 08:50:11 PM MDT Orem police and rangers in Zion National Park are looking for a 31-year-old woman missing for more than a week. Family of Sarah Jensen say she left Orem in her vehicle on May 25 to go camping in southern Utah. She hasn't been heard from since, said Orem police Sgt. Craig Gaines. "Right now there's no reason to believe there is anything suspicious about her disappearance. But it is odd for her to not have contacted anybody," Gaines said. Jensen's mother was able to access her bank records and discovered Jensen used her credit card in Beaver and stayed a night at the Best Western Zion Park Inn in Springville on May 25, Gaines said. Jensen bought a pass for Zion National Park, purchased camping gear and withdrew cash on May 26, he said. Gaines said Jensen's family reported it is not out of her character to disappear for a day or two, but it its unusual for her to take off for a week and not call someone, he said. Jensen told her boyfriend on May 25 that she planned to go camping, but didn't specify how long she planned to be gone, Gaines said. He said Jensen has no history of mental illness, depression or other heath problems that would put her at risk on a trip alone. Authorities are asking the public to report any sign of Jensen. She is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 115 pounds with blue eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt, Gaines said. She often wears a necklace with in the shape of a letter "S." She has three tattoos including a sun on the middle of her upper back, a "character" near her belly button and Japanese writing on her lower back, Gaines said. Jensen's vehicle is a silver 2002 Toyota Corolla with Utah license plates "Z725DE". The car has two bumper stickers which read "DeVotchKa" and "Abide" -- references to a band and the movie "Big Lebowski." Anyone with information on Jensen is asked to contact the Orem Police Department at 801-229-7070. -- Melinda Rogers http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_12503486

Orem woman disappears while on camping trip June 2nd, 2009 @ 10:00pm By Sarah Dallof OREM -- Orem police are hoping you can help them find a 31-year-old woman who has been missing for a week. She told her family she was going camping and hasn't contacted them since. Sarah Jensen loves the outdoors, camping and hiking. She's a dedicated mom to her 5-year-old son, and she's missing. "We just want her to call us and let us know she's OK," her father, Larry Jensen, said. Memorial Day weekend, her family says Sarah was feeling depressed and told her boyfriend she was going camping. When she didn't return by Monday, her family called police. "It's not like her to completely isolate herself from family and friends when she's down," Larry said. "We were able to find out that she stayed at a hotel by Zion National Park, that she bought a Zion park pass, that she purchased some camping equipment," explained Orem police Sgt. Chris Gaines. Police say she also withdrew cash, enough for a couple days' living expenses. She took her cell phone but not the charger. Right now, investigators don't suspect foul play. "More likely an accident … an accident of some kind where she's been injured, or something where she can't get to the phone," Gains said. Sarah was driving 2002 Toyota Corolla with the license plate Z725DE; most noticeable are the two bumper stickers: "DevotchKa" and "Abide." Her family and investigators are anxiously that someone has seen that car, or Sarah, and that she's OK. It's information they want to pass along to her son. "Just because she has not called about Aiden. That's my big concern, because he's the love of her life," said Sarah's mother, Nadine Jensen. Sarah is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She was last seen wearing jeans, a white shirt and a necklace with the letter S. She also has a tattoo of the sun on the middle of her upper back, a tattoo of a character on her stomach and Japanese writing on her lower back. If you have any information, you're asked to contact the Orem Police Department at 801-229-7070. E-mail: sdallof@ksl.com http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=6689680&autostart=y
