Updated: 12/28/2007 High-risk sex offender to be released in city By Dan Holtz Leader-Telegram staff A 36-year-old sex offender from Eau Claire, who authorities believe poses a high risk to reoffend, is being released from prison in February and will live in Eau Claire. Scott P. Olson is being released for the second time as a Level III offender, which means authorities believe he's most likely to reoffend. Olson, who has a history of forced sexual contact with teenage girls, first was released from prison in March 2004 and lived in the 700 block of Hobart Street. Olson violated conditions of his probation and fled from Wisconsin. He was returned to prison after being apprehended on warrants for his arrest. Olson also was wanted on out-of-state forgery charges. Olson will be released from prison Feb. 19. His place of residence in Eau Claire has not been determined. He will be supervised by the state Department of Corrections and will be on electronic and GPS monitoring. Residents with questions or concerns about Olson's release may contact Eau Claire Police Lt. According to police and court records: Olson was living with his parents on Eau Claire's north side when he was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child, third-degree sexual assault and forgery in February 1994. Olson's family no longer lives in Eau Claire. Olson is 5-foot-10 and weighs 187 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair, which he wears in a ponytail. Olson also has criminal convictions for false imprisonment, burglary, theft and resisting an officer. He had forced sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl over a five-month period. The false imprisonment conviction involved Olson forcing into his car a 14-year-old girl he was dating. He held a knife to the girl's throat and threatened to kill her if she stopped dating him.
