Stacey Webster, Murder: Jonathan Blackwell, 2004Marine's Body Found In Guilford County; Suspect Charged
Authorities on Friday found the body of a Piedmont Marine who has been missing for more than two years. Meanwhile, a man faces charges in the Marine's death.
Jonathan Blackwell disappeared in October 2004. He was living in Reidsville but worked in Danville, Va.
Investigators found the body just before noon Friday off U.S. Highway 29, according to officials with the Guilford and Rockingham county sheriff's offices and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. The finding occurred between the Reedy Creek and Brown Summit exits.
The body was sent to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill.
Officials said a tip led them to the location. Sheriff Sam Page said he couldn't provide specific details about the tip.
Stacey Maurice Webster was charged with murder in the case, officials said Friday, and he turned himself in to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Deptartment on Friday evening. Webster is a truck driver from Greensboro.
A week after Blackwell was last seen, his car was found burned in a wooded area in Cascade, Va., nowhere near his workplace or home.
