27 Year Old Murder Case Reopens A cold case nearly three decades old has been reopened and investigators say they may know who killed a eighty-nine year old Mecosta County woman. Stella Lintenmuth of Big Rapids was killed in her home nearly twenty-seven years ago. Investigators say the unsolved murder is reopened and the department received new information as recently as Monday morning. Stella Lintemuth was beaten to death on April 23, 1980. Authorities say the fact that the case went unsolved for so long bothered them, but are excited with the reopening of the case. Those working the case say progress in modern technology has allowed them to continue this investigation, and even provided them a person of interest. Investigators aren't releasing very much information right now because they say they've waited nearly twenty-seven years for a break in this case and they don't want to make any mistakes and jeopardize their work.
