Sexual Predator Search Published: 3/13/2006 2:29:00 PM A suspected sexual predator who disappeared last year after being charged in San Diego with child molestation was added to the U.S. Marshal Service's 15 Most Wanted fugitive list, authorities said Monday. Frederick McLean, 55, is wanted on multiple counts of sexual assault on a child, said Tania Tyler of the U.S. Marshals Service in San Diego. An arrest warrant was issued for McClean in San Diego in January 2005 after he was charged in Superior Court. One alleged victim, now an adult, reported that McLean assaulted her more than 100 times, starting when she was 5 and ending about seven years later, Deputy U.S. Marshal Tom Maranda said. "Investigators believe McLean's abusive acts against young victims span over a 20-year period," Maranda said. "So it is imperative that predators like this be taken off the streets." Though McClean last lived in the Riverside-area community of Winchester, detectives believe most of the alleged crimes occurred in San Diego County. In May 2004, family members of an alleged molestation victim confronted McClean, who admitted the allegations were true, prompting them to call the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Tyler said. McClean's wife left him after the confrontation, and he later signed divorce papers and transferred financial assets to her, Tyler said. McClean's father-in-law woke up one morning in September 2004 to find McLean's truck in his driveway. Inside the truck were McClean's cell phone, letters for the family and instructions on how to sell the vehicle, Tyler said. McClean, the former owner of a race car restoration and sales business, is an auto mechanic by trade and an experienced outdoorsman, who may frequent camping areas, Tyler said. McClean is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities cautioned citizens to consider McClean armed and dangerous, and possibly suicidal. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to McClean's arrest. Anyone with information is urged to call the nearest U.S. Marshals Service office, or the agency's 24-hour hotline at 1-800-336-0102. http://www.fox6.com/news/mostpopular/story.aspx?content_id=65D70D77-ADE1-4980-B33B-7954622186D9&rss=pop
